About Food Truck Layout

Food Truck Layout (foodtrucklayout.com) is a free food truck layout maker for food trucks, food trailers and carts that draws a scaled floor plan in the browser, with no account. It opens straight into the editor. Pick a step van, a trailer or a cart, drag griddles, fryers, fridges, sinks and tanks onto a scaled grid, and watch the walkway measurements change as you go. A first layout usually takes a few minutes, and you can save it in your browser to come back to.

Who It Is For

People planning a food truck or trailer before they spend money on the build: first-time owners working out whether a menu fits a 16 foot box, operators adding a second truck, and anyone who wants to hand a builder a drawing instead of a napkin sketch. No design software or CAD skills needed.

A Plan, Not an Approval

The checklist in the maker reminds you of items most health departments ask about, but rules differ by state and county, and only your local plan review can approve a truck. The food truck guides link to the official sources they rely on, such as the FDA Food Code and state and county mobile food unit rules, so you can check them yourself.

Guides and Sources

The guides cover truck and trailer sizes, equipment lists, sink and water tank rules, interior design and layout ideas. Short answers live in the FAQ, and the glossary defines words like commissary, step van and Type I hood. Equipment sizes in the maker are typical footprints, not any one brand's spec.

The editor runs in your browser. Layouts are not sent to our servers, and saved layouts live in your browser's storage on your device. The privacy policy has the details.
