How tall is a food truck?
A step van food truck stands roughly 10 feet tall. Morgan Olson lists overall heights of 116 to 120 inches for its 81-inch interior and 120 to 124 inches for its 85-inch interior, before roof equipment such as an exhaust fan or air conditioner is added.
There's no federal height limit for commercial vehicles. The Federal Highway Administration says state limits run from 13.6 to 14.6 feet, so the everyday worry is drive-throughs, parking garages, fuel canopies and low branches. Measure the finished truck with everything on the roof before you trust a clearance sign.
Inside, California requires occupied mobile food facilities to have at least 74 inches of clear height over the aisle. See food truck dimensions for full step van and trailer sizes.
